Facilities at Sacy

Please note there are different rates. he "Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts" rate applies when all participants are registered Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts. The "Outside Groups" rate applies when no one is a member of a scouting organization.

Tent Units Cherokee, Sioux, Mohican: Each unit has 7 platform tents, each with 4 cots, capacity 28.  Each unit has a pavilion with picnic tables, fireplace, electric, cold water tap, cabinets, campfire & cooking equipment & refrigerator. Comanche & Mohican pavilions are screened. Units have a campfire ring with cooking grate, seats & tools, firewood is supplied. Sioux, Comanche & Mohican use Mac's Wash House bathrooms, Cherokee uses the trailer. Rental includes use of Common Use Areas, see below. 

Commanche Site (NEW THIS 2016 Commanche was converted to an Acorn site) has a sleeping capacity of (28): (7) Cabins/Acorns with a solid door and screen ventilation, and (4) built-in wooden beds with mattresses for a unit capacity of (28). 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $90/Weekend, Outside Groups: $180/Weekend

Tent Unit Chippewa: Unit has 6 tents, each with 4 cots, one with a ramp for access, capacity 24. Pavilion and unit have same equipment as listed above. Unit shares trailer bathroom with Cherokee. Rental includes use of Common Use Areas. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $80/Weekend, Outside Groups: $160/Weekend

Tent Unit Center Camp: }Unit has 3 tents and 2 acorns (small cabins), each with 4 cots, capacity 20. Unit has tarp over picnic tables, shares campfire with Iroquois lodge, has charcoal grill, cooking equipment & campfire tools, firewood, water tap. Unit shares trailer bathroom or Dining Hall bathroom--check with Ranger. Rental includes Common Use Areas.

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $60/Weekend, Outside Groups: $120/Weekend

Mohawk Lodge: Day Capacity 40, sleeps 20 on foam mattresses, 3 folding beds. Lodge has oil heat, no AC. Multi-purpose room is carpeted, has sofa, folding tables, chairs, fireplace, vacuum. Kitchen has refrigerator, electric range & oven, sink, hot water, microwave, coffee brewer, cooking equipment, broom & sponge mop, 20-gallon trash & recycle cans. Bathroom has 3 toilets, a shower stall, 4 sinks. Campfire ring with grate, seats & picnic tables outside,  tools & firewood supplied. Rental includes shared use of Common Areas. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $105/Weekend, Outside Groups: $210/Weekend

Lenape Lodge: Day capacity 30, sleeps 20 on foam mattresses, 3 folding beds. Lodge has oil heat, no AC.  Multi-purpose room has folding tables, chairs, fireplace, patio furniture set. Kitchen has hot water, refrigerator, electric range with oven, microwave, cooking equipment, sink, 20-gallon trash & recycle cans. Bathroom is at Dining Hall, about 200 feet on paved path, has 3 toilets, 4 sinks, heat & hot water. Lodge has ramped entrance but narrow doors, campfire with seats, grated ring, tools, firewood. Shared use of Common Areas. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $105/Weekend, Outside Groups: $210/Weekend

Iroquois Lodge: Day capacity 18, sleeps 10 on foam mattresses, 2 folding beds. Multi-purpose room has propane space heater, no AC, tile floor, fireplace, folding tables & chairs.  Kitchen has refrigerator, electric range with oven, microwave, sink, cabinets, cooking equipment, mop & broom. Bathroom has hot water, 1 toilet, sink, bathtub with shower.  Campfire outside is shared with Center Camp tent unit. Rental includes shared use of Common Areas. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $75/Weekend, Outside Groups: $150/Weekend

Common Use Areas -- Shared by all campers: Sports field (by Parking Lot), Flag field (by Lenape), Games field (by Trailer bathroom), ParCourse Fitness stations, Waterfront, Ernie's Campfire, Whisper Trail, Playground area, Showers, Dining Hall, Nature Center. Waterfront has floating dock, boats, campfire with seats for 200.  Ernie's has campfire seating for 100. Whisper Trail starts at parking lot, has 3 sections from 3/4 mile to 2 miles. Playground has small fort, cargo net, low rock wall--no equipment or instructor needed, but adult supervision encouraged.  Games field has volleyball nets, gaga pit & tetherball. Trailer has 8 shower stalls, Shower house has 5 stalls & handicapped accessible bathroom -- please see Ranger to schedule use.

No fee with site rental.

Somers Dining Hall: Multi-purpose room, 40 x 80 feet, capacity 200 standing, tables & chairs for 120, concrete floor, high ceiling, screen windows & doors, lights and electric, fireplace, no heat or AC, wide porches can be used for activities.  Ask Ranger for firewood or playground balls. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $2/Person, Outside Groups: $4/Person

Kitchen--available for large groups/SU use only: Propane range & ovens, convection oven, refrigerators, ice machine, microwave, heating pans, dishwasher, wash machine, cooking & baking equipment, serving counter, serving bowls & utensils, tableware. Orientation required.

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $100/Weekend, Outside Groups: $300/Weekend

Activities at Sacy

Please note that with any activity requested, payment is required prior to participation. Activities must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance.

As of October 1st 2014, Groups may provide their own instructor to teach activities as long as they were certified by council. You will need to submit a copy of your certification to Debbie Test at dtest@gscsnj.org.

If you are interested in becoming a hired instructor for GSCSNJ, please contact H.L Ransom at hlransom@gscsnj.org.  We care currently looking to hire archery instructors, canoe instructors and lifeguards.

  

Canoeing: 24 people at a time. Girl Scout Daisies and Brownies can be a passenger as long as they are with older girls / adults. Certified instructor included. Life jackets are provided and must be worn. Available April, May, June, September and October weather permitting. 

For canoeing please wear boat shoes, closed-toe and nonslip hiking/sport sandals with heel strap, or water socks or shoes (no flip-flops)

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $50/Hour, Outside Groups: $100/Hour

Archery: Camp range has 4 targets, bows and arrows for several sizes of shooters.  Capacity 24 per one-hour session, for Brownies and older. Reservations must be made and paid for at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule an instructor. Available April, May, June, September & October, weather permitting (decided by the instructor).

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $30/Session, Outside Groups: $60/Session

Rock Tower: The tower is 24 feet high with hydraulic belays, has routes for 3 climbers at a time.  Capacity 24 per one-hour session, for Brownies and older.  Harnesses and helmets provided. Reservations should be made at least 2 weeks in advance to schedule an instructor and because the tower is shared between 3 camps.  Service Units, council programs have priority.  Available April, May, June, September & October, weather permitting (decided by instructor). Weight limit 40-220 lbs. Safety harness must properly fit participant.

Zip LineThe zip line is a low sag-line, 150 feet long, capacity 30 per one-hour session, for Brownies and older.  Reservations should be made and paid for 2 weeks in advance to schedule an instructor.  Available April, May, June, September & October, weather permitting (decided by the instructor). Weight limit 40-220 lbs. Safety harness must properly fit participant.

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $30 Outside Groups: $60

Hay RideA half-hour ride around camp in a straw-filled wagon pulled by a tractor, capacity about 20.   Usually scheduled in afternoon or evening. Suitable for all ages. Available April, May, June, September & October. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $25/ride Outside Groups: $45/ride

GeocachingGPS units are available for rental or you may bring your own. There are 3 caches on the camp and the coordinates are in the kit. The GPS units in the kit are not pre-programmed. An instruction book is in the kit, but a basic understanding of GPS is helpful when planning this activity for a troop. Reservations should be made and paid for 2 weeks in advance. There is one kit per camp.  Available all year. 

There are Girl Scout caches located on the site. GPS units are available for rental. $25.00 rental fee. Please contact Debbie Test at 856-795-1560 ext. 300 or dtest@gscsnj.org to reserve. 

Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts: $25 Outside Groups: $50

Nature Center: The Center is in Tuckahoe pavilion across from the pool, capacity 30. Contains picnic tables, lights & fans, no heat or AC, posters and a collection of natural things from feathers to bugs to mounted birds to bones to bark. Reservations appreciated, but also a good rainy day alternative. See the Ranger for opening or assistance. Available all year.
